One Bullet at a Time

The other day when I went to the movies I was surprised and then quickly disinterested when I heard Milla Jovovich’s voice narrating over a post-apocalyptic world. I didn’t hate the first two Resident Evil movies but I certainly didn’t like them and I never bothered with the third installment. Honestly, I thought the best things about those movies was the fact that Rammstein and 1/6th of Rammstein Emigrate were on the soundtracks – but I digress.

Needless to say, I wasn’t too enthusiastic when the trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife began. That is, until I saw a familiar face:

Oh.

Oh yeah.

And he's not the only surprise to be found from Resident Evil 5. But let's get the obvious out of the way here: I don't think this movie is going to be good. Not only is it the forth in a very mediocre series but the trailer can't shut up about the fact that it's in 3D - when 3D is the best thing you've got, I worry.

But check out the trailer below, friends. It could still be fun.

  1. The third wasn't as bad as I expected. I actually thought it was fun, and well worth a rental. Still nowhere near as good as the best videogame movie, though - Super Mario Bros!

  2. Well I didn't see Jill in there even though she's confirmed for it. And although we're not really focusing on continuity from the series as a whole, I really don't know where the RE5 baddies fit into the plot(better not be some cheap, crappy fan-service!). Guess I'm going to have to watch this film to find out :(

The trailer was nice, all action and explosions like, with hardcore made-for-trailer-rock. On the issue of 3D, I hope it fits into the story and isn't gimmicky. Personally I'm getting tired of films having unnecessary effects/work put into it for the sake of "keeping up with the latest trend."

But who knows, either way I'll be seeing this film. It just might break even and not suck as bad as the 3rd fail, I mean film :P

  3. Forgot to mention, at the part where Alice narrates: "If you are out there..." I couldn't not plug in "...you are the resistance" from Terminator. Seems like many post-apocalyptic trailers are trendy like that too, got a chuckle out of me!
